From Car Boots to 7,000+ Saved Garments (and a Lot of Tea)

We’re Lizzie and Mark, based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, and we run SheLovedPreLoved alongside our three kids—Lewis, Grace and Logan.

Before this became a proper business, we were always selling the kids’ outgrown clothes and spending weekends rummaging through car boots. Then, at the end of 2021—mid-lockdown and full of big ideas—we finally decided to chase a long-held dream: building a preloved clothing business that made sense for real families.

And when we say real, we really mean it.

There was a time when Lizzie was in a domestic-abuse marriage and simply couldn’t afford to clothe herself or the children properly—wearing clothes with holes and shoes that were too small. That experience never leaves you. It’s one of the main reasons SheLovedPreLoved exists today: because nobody should feel ashamed for needing affordable clothes.

Why Affordability Comes First

With the cost of living rising and kids growing at lightning speed, new clothes can feel like a luxury. We wanted to create the kind of place Lizzie needed back then—where prices are fair, dignity is intact, and good clothes are easy to find.

Sustainability matters deeply to us too, but for us it started with affordability first. The waste in the fashion industry is unbelievable, and keeping clothes out of landfill just happens naturally when you make second-hand simple and accessible.

So far, we’ve helped save over 7,000 garments from being thrown away—and we’re only getting started.

What We Actually Do All Day

A normal day here involves:

• opening bulk bags of clothing (Lizzie’s favourite part)

• washing, ironing, spraying and checking every item

• photographing and listing

• packing orders

• drinking a lot of tea

• listening to podcasts and LBC in the background

Lizzie handles most of the listings, photos and customer messages.

Mark is the organised one—officially promoted to PA and house husband—and the voice of reason when Lizzie says, “just one more bag…”

There is also a running debate about whether we now need to build another shed. (Mark says yes. Lizzie says also yes, but after one more bulk buy.)

Our Secret Soft Spot: Y2K Finds

We love everyday basics—but Lizzie has a particular weakness for Y2K fashion. Opening a bulk bag feels like a lucky dip, and finding a proper early-2000s gem is like stepping straight back into memory lane.

And no, second-hand doesn’t mean dirty. Everything is washed, checked and ready to wear before it ever goes up for sale.

What We’re Building

Our big goal?

To make affordable preloved clothing as easy to buy as your weekly food shop—and for SheLovedPreLoved to be the first place people think of when they need clothes.

We want customers to say three things about us:

✔ fast dispatch

✔ honest listings

✔ good prices

And we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve already built: thousands of clothes saved from landfill and a place where shopping second-hand feels normal, easy and genuinely useful.

Why We Started

We started SheLovedPreLoved so that our customers can look fantastic and feel great in affordable second-hand clothing—without pressure, judgement or sky-high price tags.

Good clothes deserve another life.

Families deserve fair prices.

And yes… you probably can have too many clothes—but we’ll keep trying to prove that wrong.
